About David Meister
Fashion designer David Meister has been recognized alongside some of the most respected figures in American fashion. Meister’s name is synonymous with sophisticated, beautiful, body conscious women’s wear and his list of devotees reads like a who’s-who in the world of fashion, entertainment, and culture. Meister’s designs are a red carpet staple, gracing the frames of some of the most recognized women in Hollywood including Diane Lane, Katherine Heigl, Queen Latifah, Fergie, Felicity Huffman, Tina Fey, Demi Lovato, Drew Barrymore, Sigourney Weaver, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Sharon Stone.
Born and raised in Ohio, Meister earned a degree in fashion design from The University of Cincinnati College of Design, Art, Architecture and Planning. After graduation, he moved to New York and secured a position at Danskin, the original fitness and bodywear company. It was there that he taught himself the magic of stretch in fabrication, and how it can be used to masterfully present the feminine form in a way that flatters curves and embodies glamour – a concept still prevalent in his designs today.
In 1998, Meister joined forces with Kellwood Company to create his first evening wear collection. Five months later, he premiered his first fall line, a compilation of modern evening wear that served as the genesis of the David Meister collection. This was followed in 2000 by the launch of Meister’s daytime dress collection, in 2009 by the launch of David Meister Signature sold exclusively through Bergdorf Goodman, and in 2010 by the launch of David Meister Bridal.
